Rooted in the Land

“The World Is Alive”

Our Elders say that the plants that you need grow closest to you… So what plants grow near you?

Rooted in the Land: A Journey of Plant Medicine

In a world that spins ever faster, where chaos and noise threaten to drown out our inner harmony, there exists a sanctuary—a place where we reconnect with the very essence of life. Rooted in the Land is more than a service; it’s an invitation to rediscover our roots, both literal and metaphorical.

The Call to Harmony

Each day, as the world whirls around us, we yearn for balance—for a way to harmonize our mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual selves. The cacophony of modern existence pulls us away from the land, from the ancient wisdom encoded in every leaf, stem, and root. But within this chaos lies an opportunity: to return to the source, to find solace in the soil, and to heal through the very plants that have sustained humanity for eons.

A Journey of the Senses

Rooted in the Land beckons you on a unique journey—one that engages your senses, ignites your curiosity, and nourishes your soul. Picture it: the sun-kissed fields, the whispering forests, the dew-kissed petals. Here, plants become our guides, their fragrances and textures leading us deeper into our own being. We touch, taste, and inhale their stories—their ancient remedies—and in doing so, we reclaim a lost connection.

From Harvest to Healing

Our service encompasses the entire lifecycle of plant medicine:

  1. First and foremost: We honor the plant, by offering it a gift and asking permission to harvest.
  2. Harvest: We teach you to gather with reverence. To pluck leaves and berries, knowing that each one holds secrets—the alchemy of chlorophyll, the dance of molecules, the whispers of the wind.
  3. Preservation: We show you how to preserve these gifts. Drying herbs, infusing oils, creating tinctures—the art of capturing nature’s essence in a bottle.
  4. Preparation: In our workshops, you learn to blend, to mix, to create. The mortar and pestle become your allies, and you discover the magic of synergy—the way one herb enhances another.
  5. Application: Finally, we guide you in applying these medicines. Whether it’s a soothing balm for tired muscles or a tea to calm a restless mind, you become the conduit between plant and person.

Weaving Hope and Self-Awareness

But Rooted in the Land is more than practical knowledge. It’s about weaving hope into the fabric of existence. As you sip herbal infusions, as you taking in the plants, you become part of a larger story—a tale of resilience, growth, and interconnectedness. You realize that you are not separate from the land; you are an extension of it.

Remain Rooted

So, dear seeker, join us. Step onto this path of plant medicine. Let the earth cradle you, let the leaves whisper their secrets, and let your roots dig deep. Rooted in the Land is not just a service; it’s an affirmation—an embrace of life’s intricate dance. And as you journey, remember this: You remain rooted in the land, and the land remains rooted in you.

About

Fran Morberg-Green is Hän Athapaskan from the Crow clan, her mother was Julia Morberg (Joseph) and her father was Ron Morberg. She was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon and lived with her Grandma Mazie until she was 14. Fran had a lifelong calling to come home to her roots, so she moved to Dawson City in 1998 to be closer to her family and eventually to live out her dream of learning about her heritage and ancestry.

Fran first began to learn about plants when she would go out on family gatherings with her Shënya, sisters, husband, grandson and dogs – to collect plant medicines from the land where her mother would share her knowledge about the plants. She also began to collect and study different plant books. Soon Fran realized that the more she learned the less she knew. To further her knowledge she enrolled in a plant medicine course in Victoria, BC at the Pacific Rim College in 2014.

Through work she was able to create two programs involving plants that she often harvested locally on days off, Wild and Rosie Apothecary where she explains, plants, preparations, and application, both medicinal and natural body care; and, of Land and Sky, she paints an experience, threading together her uncommon world view, spirit connection and our connection to the plants and the world around us. Fran does workshops and programs at Dänojà Zho Cultural Centre, Adaka Festival, local schools and health and wellness camps.
